The Update:
It's been four years since my family and I visited Montecito Lake Resort and shot this video segment for my Family Adventures television news series that aired during newscasts here in California. To say that we had a blast would be quite an understatement. The staff was terrific, the food was incredible, and the activities were plentiful. We swam, we fished, we hiked, we biked, we marveled at star-filled skies.
In January, 2007 what was then called Montecito Sequoia Resort, was sold by its founder, Dr. Virginia Barnes, to the Dally family. "Pony", as Dr. Barnes is affectionately called is the lady in the video who asks "How many of you adults are just kids?".
Today, the Dally family continues the wonderful reputation this bucolic retreat has enjoyed since Dr. Barnes founded it in 1946...over 60 years ago.
It sits perched high amid the spectacular landscape of Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks.
Trust me. This place is a perfect spot for a baby boomer getaway. There's plenty of room to roam and plenty to share with your family or friends. I hope I see you there soon.
